IRL Half marathon progress updates!

Hello all, Walt Disney running company RunDisney is holding a virtual half marathon (13.1 miles) in early 2019! Basically means you can run it from anywhere in the world (with im assuming gps tracking) between the dates Jan 1-March 30th 2019. They mail you a star wars themed metal as well when you complete it! So I am going to keep my progress logged here for anyone who cares. will be trying to do 5k's (3.1 miles) to improve my pace and anything longer to improve my distance without killing over


Run #5: Not fully recovered so had some breathing issues and had to stop early but still wanted to get a run in Date (8/06/2018) Distance (1.1 miles) Time (23:02) Pace (21:58/mi) Weather (68 Sunny)
got bronchitis on 7/24... running delayed until no longer ill
Run #4: Date (7/22/2018) Distance (3.1 miles) Time (28:41) Pace (09:14/mi) Weather (68 pre rain conditions)
Run #3: Date (7/19/2018) Distance (4.6 miles) Time (46:19) Pace (10:02/mi) Weather (75 mostly cloudy)
Sprained ankle after Run 2. 2 week recovery and then non stop monsoon rain for a few days
Run #2: Date (6/30/2018) Distance (3.1 miles) Time (29:07) Pace (09:23/mi) Weather (74 Sunny)
Run #1: Date (6/26/2018) Distance (3.2 miles) Time (31:11) Pace (09:43/mi) Weather (65 slight rain)

I will update this as I go. hopefully I wont quit out 3 months in like the last time I tried this. I hope the people who follow this will keep me motivated to keep going ^_^

That is really cool! Definitely keep us updated on your progress. Remember, the more you do it the easier gets!

I will edit the main post with all my runs and then post other updates and progress things as separate posts. almost like journals every so often. All i have to say is running during the summer heat is gonna be rough. time to wake up early or run late cause the heat is rough

Update: messed up my foot pretty bad on the second run so had to take a small break. foot is almost healed up though so should be running again soon

Good luck with the injury, I recently tore a leg muscle in 2 spots doing sport and it's taken 5 weeks to recover fully, not fun!

Just got bronchitis so idk what my runs will look like till i get better. there seems to be some unknown force trying to stop me from running. but I will not give up

I hope you get to feeling better soon! Just remember to not push it too much, you don't want overdo it and then set yourself back even further!

I recently got a new second job so now im working about 60-70 hours a week, probably will have to pause this goal for a long while. so for now, i will still do the half marathon (they allow you to not run it all at once) but my goal to run it all at once will be put off until I no longer work 2 jobs.

stay healthy and positive, working 2 jobs cant be easy, and I hope you get to achieve your goal, one step at a time, and with no more set backs. Be good to yourself.

I know how hard working a ton of hours can be and balancing exercise in between. In my case,it was all about consistency and making it a habit. Don't over work yourself mate!

Thank you for posted this, i've wanted to run a marathon for a while and this is the perfect one for me to run!

I'll be running a marathon next April o.O

I've run two half marathons now... both with little to no training because I'm an idiot.

Both results were roughly 2 hours: ran 11 miles, walked a mile, finished the final 1.1 miles strong.

Keep at it and don't let the injuries and ailments stop you from your goal, but make sure to take care of your body. Pushing yourself too hard leads to more injuries that take longer to recover from!

So I forgot I started this thread. Just to update you all I finished my half marathon! Run time was 2 hours 18 minutes and 53 seconds!
