Hey everyone!
I hope you’re all having a good day!
As whoever was online at the time I was online this morning they know it was me in chat! However as hours have gone by I wanted to log on to my account and kill a couple of trolls! I am shocked to say I haven’t got an account anymore by the looks of it as it has been hacked/blocked, so I’m no longer able to use it. I’m so devastated! I received an E-Mail from “Jagex” that someone has been trying to reset my password, therefore I logged on and panicked and changed it, silly fool me later on I go to log on and I can’t. I’m guessing it was a PHISH! How can people be so cruel. I don’t know what to think or do now. I do have an UIM but I don’t want to do that. Any advice? Ahhh. Thank you for reading this! I just want to warn people! Do not click on a link like I did. I feel all my hard work is just vanished! Thankfully I used a bond! I don’t care they have all my money. I’m just sad I have lost my account! Thank you for reading!

Hey RJLF,

That really blows Sad

If you have ever paid for the account using real life money I would strong suggest you fill out the recovery form and include any payment references that you have. That way Jagex can potentially recover the account. Something similar to this happened to me as well and that's how I recovered my account.

Please in future, never ever click on a link in an email from Runescape, if it doesn't actually have your account name attached, far safer to log into the Runescape website and update your password that way if you're worried, rather than from a email as 99.9% will be phishing links.
Hopefully you will be able to recover the account, and I can't recommend enough using the Runescape Authenticator and having 2 step email verification set up on the email that is linked to your Runescape account.

Yeah just in a spot of bother now aren’t I! What a pickle!! I agree it’s my fault for not thinking though! Ahhh I’m deciding what to do. However I don’t want to leave everyone as I like playing the game!? Just feel bleugh.

Not much for me to say about account security/recovery that Viku and Meg haven't covered already, but I'd be happy to help you get back on your feet once your account is returned to you (although ideally you'll have a bank PIN set up already, if nothing else).

Just let me know once you're able to regain access, or if you end up creating a new account in the meantime. We'll get you set up again. But, yeah, definitely look into improving account security in the meantime. This can be a good lesson, but it only needs to be taught once!

Jagex is pretty good about restoring hijacked accounts to their rightful owners, in my experience. Should be easy enough for you to remember your account creation details and other pertinent info, considering your account is still quite new (if I'm not mistaken). Just follow the link Meg posted, and provide as much info as you're able. In the meantime, I suppose you still have your ironman, or you can start over if you're feeling bold. Nothing wrong with a break, though. Rest assured we're not going to forget about you Smile

it's not your fault, it's the fault of the person that sent you the link in the first place, we all make lapses in judgement esp when we are worried or concerned or are not armed with information, I know personally that in other games I have almost been sucked into clicking on links asking for me to update my information, it's that easy, and these phishers are well aware of that and take advantage.

Don't blame yourself, hindsight is a wonderful thing, you'll learn from this and know for future Smile

Yeah unfortunately I’m one of those! Ahh typical! Just when I was getting good! Lesson learnt I guess! I have been thinking, I think I will have to get back up and running again. I will take all the protection I can get for the account and I hope to come back better I guess! Thank you all for listening and replying I honestly think with out the clan I would quit.

Oh no, that's the worst thing to hear... I lost my old main account to a phishing thing in a similar manner. It took me over a week to get back into the account and i found that everything was gone off of there, completely wiped.
Honestly, what I did was just make a new main and play on it. When i finally got my old main back in control i stayed off of it since imo Jagex has a super flawed recovery system if they know your login email or w/e.
I'm not saying thats what you should do, but that's what i did and im enjoying it and using my old compromised alt to farm rune dragons lol
I do wish you the best of luck in recovering your account though, the pit in the bottom of your stomach when thousands of hours of work just go out the window is the worst.

Back by now or not, there always the option to start over if the account was still kinda new, might be boring to do but hey, can only be faster than the time before you still got the experience of the game, that no one can take it Wink
