Car Progress

Post by GTS Lord on Thu Sep 14, 2017 6:49 am

This is what it originally looked like, gold and the roll bars. (yes, that is one of my dogs in the tray. Razz )

This is the front end of the first colour I made it (Royal Blue) and the bad boy eyes I decided to add for fun... while I worked on her...lol.

Front end/side view of the Royal Blue colour.

Started sanding her back - took the bonnet off

Back to primer, ready to paint again.

Tested the colour on the roof.... turned out nice. Smile it is a brighter, more deep blue.

Once I done the roof, had to prep the sides for a paint job too. Smile

Shocking lighting, but this is one side painted and ready to rock and roll. Smile

This is the other side in the brighter/deeper blue.

I need to do a final coat of paint on her before I can park it in the sun to bake the paint properly.

After that I need to paint the extras, thinking of putting a black pin stripe around the center body area, also across the top of the tub area and the plastics on the rear of the door.

The bonnet is back on, finished that off today.

When she is baked on properly I'll take a happy snap to show you a complete job on it.

Then I'll follow up with the extras painted the black I want. Smile

I am using this project car as a focus point to clear my head, kind of working so far...

So - so far, so good! Smile

thanks! Smile

Next step will be to restore all the blacks on it. make them 'pop' again.

Then removing the paint on the lights and filling in the remaining old colour.
as in, the parts not exposed until the door or hood is opened.

I see you covered the parts that you didn't want paint to get on, why didn't you do the same for the headlights? Just wondering Razz

Btw, really cool thread. Will be interesting to see how it comes along.

Thanks. Smile

I already had the headlights painted before paining it, I had it set up as a track car, then decided against it. Razz

I had the bad boy eyes painted into it. ;P you can see the painted bad boy eyes in the photo of it in primer. ;P
